BU STAMPS PRESENCE AT SID CAMPOREE

More than 300 Pathfinders of Botswana Union attended First SID Pathfinder Camporee in Aliwal North, South Africa. 

Botswana Union was among the families that partcipated in the First SID Pathfinder Camporee under the theme Heroes of our Faith. Highly energetic and spirited pathfinders swamped the coaches enroute to Aliwal North, South Africa on . A toal of 5000 pathfinders camped at Aliwal Spa. A place of numerous activities. Pathfinders enjoyed Team Challenge Events, Community Service, Commando Course, Drill, Crafts, Honours, Olympic events and Water Events. Awards were given to pathfinders and pathfinder staff leaders who have shown commitment and devotion to the pathfinder work. From Botswana, Siqondile Mpofu of North Botswana Conference got the pathfinder staff award while Aone Sethibe of South Botswana Conference got the Pathfinder Award. Their dedication to the gospel work in the pathfinder spirit won them the award. Pathfinders and Staff ought to witness, we solely exist to expand the horizons of God's kingdom. The only other award was for Drill and Marching. Botswana got position one, Zambia 2, Zimbabwe 3, South Africa 4, Namibia 5. Mozambique, Angola, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius and Malawi did not partcipate in the competition. Pastor Pako Mokgwane, BU Youth Director was excited to receive the award. He said, "We did it, Heavily indebted to a united spirit, unparalled support and maximum cooperation. I salute my fellow countrymen and Conference Youth Directors, Ncube and Mosarwe." Pastor Eugene Franch, SID Youth Director, heaped praises for Botswana. Countries were each assigned a particular topic to prepare in the form of a play. Botswana was given Naaman's little maid. She is indeed a hero a faith. Fellow campers were encouraged to trust God Almighty. At the end of the presentation, pathfinders strutted off their cultural dance to the appreciation of the crowd. Botswana was counted guilty for messing up the official opening program. National anthems were sung. when Botswana national anthem was sung, Batswana shouted PULA which means rain (a natural resource that is vital to the existence of Batswana)! God heard their cry and generously opened the heavens and the rain came down, sending pathfinders back to their tents, some of which were destroyed but the strong torrents. The Guest Speaker was Pastor Jonathan Tejel , God used him abundantly. 19 pathfinders from Botswana gave their lives to the Lord through Baptism.
