The Book of Acts reports growth in membership which is not only history but also sets a tone of how the church should grow in these last days. “The same day there were 3000 souls added.” Acts 2: 41, 5000 added to the in Acts 4: 4, “ The Lord added to the church such as should be saved,” 2:47, “Multitudes of Both men and women were added” Acts 5: 14. As one reads this stories of growth explosion one can not help but seek for the reason for this growth. How many efforts did they hold? How many Evangelism Seminars did they attend? What strategic document did they have? The questions can be endless but the answer for the success in Acts 5: 42. “Daily in the Temple and in every house, they ceased not Teach and Preach Jesus.”
This is our duty as a church to continue to teach in church and in every household. I pray that this may be our modus operandi for 2009. Then we shall witness growth in all our church.
The year 2008 has seen a lot that has been done in advancing the Advent message by the church in Botswana. We praise the Lord that Botswana continues to make its footprints in the global church. The following are highlights.
Ø The Historic visit by the Executive Secretary of General Conference, Dr Matthew Bediako.
Ø Official opening of the Union Headquarters by the former President of Republic of Botswana, Hon. F. G. Mogae, and dedicated by the General Conference Vice President, Pardon Mwansa.
Ø Organisation of the NBF into a conference.
Ø Official Opening the Media Centre.
Ø Baptism of over 1200 souls.
Ø Continual growth in giving patterns to support the course of God.
STATISTICS
With a membership of 28,601, the ratio of the population to members continues to drop. Currently for every 58 person you meet on the streets of Botswana one is Adventist. We praise the Lord for this growth. It is our hope that we shall continue to work hard to reach those pockets that are unreached within our community. I challenge you to take inventory in your district/ward and continue to serve the Lord.
